My name is Annie; I have been married for 3.5 years. My husband, Rob and I are expecting our first child, a boy, in July, specifically our four year anniversary. This will be the first grandchild and the 3rd- 5th grandchild depending which side you look on.

I have recently felt the baby move and it is the most joyful experience. I keep imagining the little one at home with us and a combination of excitement, anxiety, and amazement always finds me.

The hardest part of my pregnancy has been the sleep. I started feeling pain in all parts of my body pretty early. I need 8 hours of sleep to be a happy person so I am learning to cope.

What are you most excited about? I am excited to be a mom. I have dreamt of this for a long time and for a while I wasn’t sure if it could happen.

How is your energy level compared to “normal”? I was sleeping all the time in the first trimester. Now, I have been going to bed about 8:30-9:30, and then waking up at about 11:00 and tossing turning the rest of the night. As mentioned above, my energy level depends on if I can get enough sleep.

What clothes are you finding most comfy? In the beginning of my second trimester, I was in between regular clothes and pregnancy clothes. The hair tie trick has saved me. I am already a small person so hopefully I can wear regular clothes for a bit longer.

What type of food are you craving or have aversion to; does the smell of pickles make you smile or gag? I my first trimester, garlic and heavy salads did not work for me. Then I started craving meats especially salami. Now it seems that I will eat anything. If I hear about a particular food, or smell it, I want it (mainly chocolate. I haven’t wanted pickles.

What color will you paint the nursery? The nursery will be in our bedroom until we can get a bigger place, so that is white. However, we like greens and yellows, maybe a little blue.

Where did you conceive? Do you want to share some funny details? We were probably at home. My cycles were so long that I didn’t know I was pregnant until I was almost out of the first trimester! I can’t really pinpoint a day.
