Just wondering...what kind of birth are you planning on having? Do you have a particular method that you like or are taking classes for? Are you planning on receiving any pain meds?

I took a birthing class when my son was born that intergrated the Lamaze method with other natural-birth methods. It was geared to equip women and their partners for natural childbirth while still allowing them the option of receiving medication if they wanted. It was a great option and I made it through several hours of heavy labor before receiving an epidural...which I mainly opted for because I had a slightly complicated delivery. I plan on using whatever options are available to me (birthing ball, tub, etc.) this time around in hopes of avoiding ANY medication, but we'll have to see.

I'm sort off brain washing myself believing that If I keep up with my keggels, practice more yoga (with relaxing meditation). And if by the 9th month I eat tons of berries and keep myself more active than ever (including sexually), I can have a 100% natural birth. No epidural...my pain killer will be a small pillow where I can scream to the top of my lungs and get my baby boy out and see his beautiful face in less than two hours of pushing. Ahhh...Then again, I have never given birth and it's just my ideal birthing expeience. ;)

I've been taking pre-natal yoga since the beginning of my 2nd trimester and we start childbirh classes at the end of next month. I'm really hoping to do this naturally/no drugs, but since its my first, I'm not ruling anything out.

I've heard some really good things about Hypnobirthing...does anyone have any experience with it?

Well I'm planning on a natural birth - a waterbirth at a birthing center using hypnobirthing. I am due in just a few days..... so here's hoping I have a good experienc. I have loved the hypno program up until now as I am actually really relaxed and not stressed out about things. Most women i know at this stage of the game want the baby out of them and hate the last couple of weeks. So I'll let you knwo how it goes.

Alice...
I can't wait to hear about your birth experience. I have really wnated to try hypnobirthing, but having moved recently and switched EVERYTHING (doctor, hospital, insurance, etc) and having only 10 wweks left, I'm not sure it's happening this time around. Good luck to you all.
