I have to admit reading books and sometimes even listening to this podcast I got a little worried about the transition to mommyhood. But I have to say it's been fantastic!! My baby took to breastfeeding right away with no issues with cracking nipples or bleeding; it was smooth sailing with that right away. He hardly ever cries unless he is hungry or tired or needs to burp, but other than that there is no fussy times. He sleeps 12 hours a night. He is in a great mood most of the day.
As far as I go, my body snapped back right away. My period hasn't started yet but besides that everything is back to normal. My husband and I starting having sex about 2 weeks after we brought the baby home, but the frequency wasn't that much in the beginning but now it's right on track with where we were before (or even more!).
As far as my transition into my new role as a mom, I couldn't be happier. I don't really have any support in the area, the closest relatives live about 2 hours away, everyone else is 10-12 hours, so it's all me most of the time or my husband when he is away. I get a shower every day, brush my teeth and get dressed every day. My son goes to sleep for 12 hours a night with two naps during the day so if I'm overly tired I can always sleep when he is sleeping or get a lot done at night.
I was nervous because it seems like most people don't have it this easy. Am I abnormal? I listened to the last podcast about the new mommy ID and although it wasn't overly negative, I truely didn't connect with the woman's struggles. I guess I'm just lucky but I don't feel isolated, I love being with my son everyday. I'm sure that this isn't the way it always is but I'm glad that it's like this. I was nervous because it seems like there are many woman that don't have it this easy.
