No it's not a new spin off from the movie "Snakes on a Plane". I just want to know when would a newborn be ready to take a flight?

My mom took me on a plane when I was 6 months old. I'm sure you can be younger than that.

Try to at least wait until after the 1st month or preferably the 2nd month. Baby's immune system is very weak in the 1st 2 months. Putting them in an enclosed space with the amount of bacteria that there may be with people coughing and sneezing, is just asking for trouble. I would wait til the baby is pumped up with more immunities.

Warmly,
Veronica

my sister-in-law took her 4 month old from SAn Fran to SIngapore to Delhi to Patna (city in India)-- so that was a LONG series of flights. they were fine-- i think if you are prepared and comfort the baby enough he/she'll be ok. it's a good point about waiting until the immunity is built up after a few months.

I have always heard that you're supposed to wait two months. My son was six months when we travelled from New York to Idaho last year and he did GREAT! It helped that we travelled at night when he was naturally sleepy and that I was breastfeeding. If you're going to fly with an infant, nursing on-demand is a LIFESAVER!

We will be taking our baby on a plane at 3.5 months from the UK to the US.

The trouble starts, I hear, when your baby starts crawling and walking. They won't be able to sit still for long flights and will most likely be fussy. Though my daughter is 2 months old and I can't say so from personal experience. ;)
