I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed this particular birthing story because Heather talked about the not so nice side of being home with the baby(ies) and how depression can set in.
I have been a Pregtastic listener since being pregnant with my daughter back in '08-'09. I am now pregnant with my second due Oct '11 and I don't recall a more frank discussion on PPD that I have heard on Pregtastic. Maybe you have had professionals on to discuss PPD but hearing it from a mother who is going through it was really good.
After the birth of my daughter in May of '09 I struggled with depression for 7 months after she was born and I really didn't know enough about PPD to know that I had a problem. I thought because I could function and get out of bed on a daily basis then it really wasn't depression. Every time I would mention to someone that I thought I was struggling with depression, I would get "oh, you're not struggling with depression, I knew this lady that...blah, blah, blah".
It was nice to hear Heather talk about PPD without hearing some crazy story that relates more to Post Partum Sychosis (sp??) which is different than PPD. Anyway, I was hoping you might be able to do a show in the future that talks about PPD and PPS and explain the differences and how to know when you have a problem. It would be nice to have women who have been through it on your show and some experts as well.
Sorry for the long post! Thanks for all that you do!
