I just listened to episode 158 and thought I would share how we chose the names of our kids. When I was in 3rd grade, I had a best friend named Johanna. She moved away and I never met another Johanna. I always liked her name and kept it as an idea if I had a girl. My husband agreed to it, but we had a hard time coming up with a middle name. One day I was going through my family genealogy and came across the name Joy. I put it together Johanna Joy and loved it. Johanna means 'gift from God'. She is 4 1/2 now and has the perfect name because she is a gift and a joy to us.
When I became pregnant the second time, we were excited and had come up with a list of names but hadn't decided on anything. That pregnancy ended in a miscarriage. After that I had to have a lot of Faith that things would be fine if I got pregnant again. So with my third pregnancy I knew the middle name would be Faith if it was a girl. I wanted something to go with Johanna and came across the name Julianna. So our second daughter is Julianna Faith. We call her Julie. She is 2 1/2 and will call herself JulieHanna. A combination of her name and her sister's name. Now I'm pregnant again and am hoping it's another girl. If it is, her name will be Jordanna Hope. I wanted to keep with the J___anna theme. My husband and I never agreed on a boy's name before. He is really hoping for a boy this time and I've agreed to Joseph Lester. I'm not sold on the name, but it's a J name and is the names of his Grandpa's so it has special meaning to him. How did you choose your baby's name? |

this is so funny to read because my husband and i both have "j" names. he wants to name our baby, James, if it's a boy but i'm afraid to do all "j" names for the entire family. i feel like it's ultra corny. if it was just the kids, it's cute but when it's the parents too, i feel it gets too corny!

I know a family that goes by the 5 KP's. Their first names all start with K and their last name starts with P. Their names are Kenny, Kara, Kenzie, Kolton, and Kaylee.
My husband and I do not have J names. What names do you like? |

I know a lot of people who are sticking with "J"s when naming their children. One of my childhood best friends came from a family where everyone's name started with a "J" including the family pets...
I do think you can take it a bit too far ![]() Personally, I'm sticking with "S" names... at least, that's the current plan. My name begins with an "S", so I'm pretty biased ![]() Our son is due next week and we're naming him "Sayer Ryan Gault".
