“I’m really not pregnant, I just have a cheese gut going on.”
Was this pregnancy planned? Yes. We had been trying to get pregnant while living in South Korea and I had some medical problems that prevented us from conceiving. Everything we said and they said was in broken English so sometimes we weren’t sure if we understood correctly. While seeing the doctor regularly, the Doctor would look at the size of my eggs and tell us when to do our ‘homework’.
What are you most excited about? Holding my baby boy.
What’s the best part about being pregnant? Um… being on PregTASTIC? Hasn’t been the greatest pregnancy so far!
What type of food are you craving or have an aversion to? LOVE, LOVE, LOVE pizza. And quesadillas (with sour cream). I’m really not pregnant, I just have a cheese gut going on.
What is something silly, verging on ridiculous, that someone has said about your pregnancy? We’ll see how this pans out… (I’m pretty sure in the end a baby comes out).
Have you experienced “baby brain” or “momnesia” yet? All the time. I’ve just double booked dinners with friends with massive family events.
How involved is your husband? He’s great. We go to bed and both read our different pregnancy books.
How is your energy level compared to “normal”? My energy isn’t horrible (I sleep A LOT at night) it’s the nausea that gets me if i don’t sleep enough.
What clothes are you finding most comfy? Maternity clothes. I’ve given up on my regular clothes. And my huge grandma bra feels great!
What are your plans for the nursery? We’re hoping for just a spot for the crib. We’re living with my folks and there is plenty of space, but figuring out what room they want to give us. Right now we’re hoping for the ‘golf’ room. Although, both my husband and I hate golf! But it is pretty cute in there! If we had our choice it’d be a surfer room!
What aspect of pregnancy has surprised you (so far)? We continually have to pinch ourselves that we even are pregnant. We went through so much to get pregnant and that when it finally happened we had almost stopped believing that it was even possible. Every kick and ultrasound is a gift to us. Reminds us that I’m not just fat; but that we actually made a baby.
What words of wisdom or piece of advice do you wish you knew about pregnancy, before getting pregnant? While everyone was getting pregnant but me and the heartaches and frustrations we felt, we constantly reminded ourselves that Gods timing is perfect. When we would one day hold our perfect dear child it was at no other time, no other month in the world could we have created that special soul. Reminding ourselves that our time would come when it was supposed to come was reassuring. And when we get stressed at the timing in our lives that we did get pregnant (unemployed and living with the parents) we remind ourselves again that it was not our timing. Which makes this special little being all the more special!
If your delivery day turned out perfectly, what would it look like? HA! Go to sleep and wake up with a child next to you! Is there a way to avoid labor? Can I sleep through it and they wake me up for the best parts?
