I am so excited to be pregnant! My name is Leyna. I am a 27 year old math and science middle school teacher in my hometown, a suburb of San Diego. I’ve been married for two years and expecting my first child in September of 2008. My mom will be a first time grandparent and is ever so excited, while my husband’s mom already has three grandsons but they live out of state from all of us.

This whole thing started last summer when my husband and I decided not to take any more precautions not to avoid getting pregnant, but we weren’t really counting ovulation cycles either. The best change is all the unexpected surprises that comes along with being pregnant. For instance, how comfortable maternity clothes are, the incessant heartburn, gagging on a bruised banana, and crying at diaper commercials. Since my energy level is about the same–I do get physically tired faster–I have been able to stay productive. The nursery is green which will be decorated when we find out the sex of the baby. The bathroom is painted and decorated since bath time is the thing I am looking forward to the most as being a new mom. After more than six hours of marketing research, I have also decided on a $360 stroller that will be about $460 once I finish accessorizing it. I also keep a blog updated with all my pregnancy details for my friends and family, including pictures! My husband has been very supportive and lovingly calls me “Prego,” and I endearingly call him “Ragu.” Yes, it’s been fun and very exciting, even if my already sensitive belly button is a little more exposed than usual.
