“I used to be able to sleep 6 hours per night and now I need 8-9 and often an afternoon nap.”

Was this pregnancy planned? Somewhat. We decided to stop preventing mid-February (thinking it would take several months at least to get pregnant) and got pregnant right away (2 weeks later). My husband convinced me it was the “right” time (we accomplished many of our life goals and it would probably take a while to get pregnant) and we think we might have conceived when in a fight. :)

What are you most excited about? Being a mom and discovering the parenthood journey–a new step in our lives.

What’s the best part about being pregnant? This second trimester–feeling beautiful (which I didn’t the first trimester) and getting more used to the hormones, body changes, etc.

What type of food are you craving or have an aversion to? I hate chocolate now (used to eat it daily). Cravings have varied but mostly potatoes and strawberries.

What is something silly, verging on ridiculous, that someone has said about your pregnancy? “Are you still pregnant?” (at 4 1/2 months)

How involved is your husband? Very involved. He’s thrilled.

How is your energy level compared to “normal”? Very low. I used to be able to sleep 6 hours per night and now I need 8-9 and often an afternoon nap.

What clothes are you finding most comfy? Cotton and light-weight.

What are your plans for the nursery? The color of the room is already a light green. Probably add a “jungle” theme if it’s a boy (with blues and browns) and a “fairy” theme if it’s a girl (with whites and pinks).

What aspect of pregnancy has surprised you (so far)? I didn’t realize your body changes right away–as soon as you get pregnant! Having so many headaches and no energy is not fun.

What words of wisdom or piece of advice do you wish you knew about pregnancy, before getting pregnant? People will try to scare you, focus on the people that encourage you and are positive!

If your delivery day turned out perfectly, what would it look like? Wake up late, relaxed and refreshed. Know it’s “time” (but no pain of course) and go to the hospital to have the baby in 2 hours or less. :)
