Hi there, I’m Stacey! I’m 28, and I’ve been married for three years to a great guy named Daren. Although I’m from Pennsylvania and he’s from Michigan, we met in Miami about 6 years ago in the Coast Guard. We’re both still in the Coast Guard in San Diego after moving here about two years ago, and we couldn’t have picked a better place to have our first child, due in November 2008. Other than being in the military, I spend my time running marathons, making quilts, and trying new bread recipes.
So far, my pregnancy’s been going fantastic, although without my mother’s great pregnancy genes, I don’t know where I’d be. Nothing too bad to report, other than light morning sickness and VERY finicky appetite. I’m still having a great time, and I’ll chat about it to anyone who will listen, hence, Pregtastic!
What are you most excited about?
I’m looking forward to seeing Daren holding our baby. I love picking up anyone’s baby (who will let me!), but it’s rare to catch D with an infant. I’m also dying to see who the baby looks like!
How is your energy level compared to “normal”?
Energy is definitely down, but as long as I get a half-hour nap somewhere in the day, I’m usually okay.
What clothes are you finding most comfy?
The Bella Band is a lifesaver, and of course my favorite flip-flops. So far, I can still fit into my comfy jeans and khakis, but we’ll see!
What do you have planned for the nursery?
Actually, nothing. We’re fans of the Voluntary Simplicity lifestyle, which means that we try to live simply and save money where we can. Since I don’t plan to go back to work after the baby is born, every penny counts. The guest room will stay as is, and other than a car seat and a co-sleeper, we’re trying to keep baby stuff as you guessed, simple.
What is something silly, verging on ridiculous, that your husband or someone else has said about your pregnancy?
Someone asked my husband (when they found out I was pregnant) what we were going to do with our dog, a 120-pound black German shepherd. As if we’d put him down or kick him out now that we’re expecting a baby! Sirius (our dog) is still our FIRST baby, and he’s a very important member of the family.
