My best friend and I met on the first day of college and lived with each other for four consecutive years after that day. We are both the same age and both hold the same career. It is unfortunate that now we don’t live in the same state, but life does lead people to different places sometimes.

For different reasons, we both decided to have children at the same time. So not only do I have a best friend, I have a “pregnancy buddy”. And let me tell you, although I don’t feel it at all, I’m no spring chick anymore, and it is somewhat uncommon to find women my age who are pregnant. Thank God for my Pregnancy Buddy. It is like having the PregTASTIC panel of pregnant women on speed dial. One of the 98,437,543,857 benefits of my pregnancy buddy best friend is that her not-so-pleasant birth experience helped me make mine a better one. (How can you ever thank someone for that?) Our beautiful babies were born within a month of each other. Almost on the very same day, we both decided that we needed to take a hiatus from our out-of-the-house jobs and stay at home with our beautiful babies.

Advanced Maternal Age
Last summer, when our beautiful babies were about 18 months old, we both decided that it was time to give them siblings. Then in September, our paths seemed to diverge into two different experiences, or so I thought. Starting at eleven weeks, various tests indicated that there was something wrong with my baby. Unfortunately, at almost 14 weeks, the baby didn’t survive and I had to have surgery. It was devastating to say the least. Ten days later, my friend miscarried at home. It was a double devastation for us! We are both tired of hearing the phrase, “Advanced Maternal Age”. We’ll challenge anyone to a marathon and see who really has the Advanced Maternal Age! Ha…if these things only really had to do with the age of one’s ovaries!

Second Round for Siblings
A few months later, my best friend and I once again decided to try to give siblings to our beautiful babies. We once again will be pregnancy buddies! We are both in the very, very early stages of our first trimester. Our babies are due within five days of each other! (somewhere, someone must feel empathy for our husbands!) I haven’t told anyone yet, except for my pregnancy buddy, because I’m paranoid. I just want to make it through the first trimester. Of course I don’t know how long I can really pull that off because as with my other two pregnancies, my buddha has freakishly popped. Maybe it has to do with my “Advanced Maternal Age”!! Ha Ha! So I am crossing my fingers and praying that all goes well with both our pregnancies. The baby is due November 14, 20011….one month before I turn 42!
