Hello! My name is Vanessa, I’m 20 years old, I just got married to the love of my life, Nate. We have been together for 4 years and engaged for 2, so we finally decided it was time to get married once we found out there was a baby on the way. We were both born and raised in San Diego and absolutely love it here. I’m not currently working because I had hyperemesis for the first 4 months of my pregnancy and all I could do was lay on the couch and throw up. I am feeling better now though! I am due on April 15th, 2008 and it’s a girl named Maliyah Raye.

What are you most excited about? I am most excited about just meeting her and seeing whose features she has and what kind of personality she has. I, also, can’t wait to take her out places like the zoo and Sea World. We are going to have so much fun together!

How is your energy level compared to “normal”? It has been pretty normal. The first trimester, when I was so sick, I had no energy and slept a lot of the day, but now I can usually get through the day without a nap and am feeling good. I am starting to feel pretty big though, but luckily I haven’t gained very much weight so that’s a plus.

What clothes are you finding most comfy? My velour sweats and wife beaters have been my uniform at home. And my maternity jeans are pretty comfy too.

What type of food do you crave or have aversion to? Does the smell of anything make you gag? Well, if I had to answer that a couple weeks ago I would have said the only things I CAN eat are jello, applesauce, and gatorade. Luckily, I can eat almost anything now, but anything from the sea is disgusting and I can’t live without Dr. Pepper and Cherry Coke!

What do you have planned for the nursery? We just got the big furniture and it is cherry colored wood. We haven’t decided on a pattern or theme yet, but we really like pink and brown together. Unfortunately, we are renting so we won’t be painting the walls so they will stay white.

Was this pregnancy planned? Yes and No. We definitely weren’t trying, but I had stopped taking my birth control because it was making me sick, so we knew there could be some “repercussions”. And about a year and a half later…here she is!

What is something silly, verging on ridiculous, that your husband or someone else has said about your pregnancy? My husband used to say I was faking my morning sickness and that it wasn’t as bad as I made it seem…he realized, when I was going to the hospital twice a week to get IV fluid to stay hydrated, that I wasn’t faking. Then he felt bad.

Where did you conceive? Do you want to share some funny details?
At home. There aren’t any funny details really. So boring I know.

What is your most expensive purchase so far?
THE most expensive purchase so far has been our nursery furniture. The changing table to be exact. Luckily, Nate’s family bought those for us which has saved us so much money. MY most expensive purchase so far has probably been a green polka-dot shirt I found that I had to get for her! Haha.
